At Spartan Tyre and Service Centre, we are experts in assessing the car and getting it prepared for roadworthy inspections to get the roadworthy certificate. We advise and repair any issues that may hinder in getting the roadworthy certificate for your car. (Please note: we do not issue a roadworthy certificate) Based in Sunbury, we offer fast, relaiable and affordable advise for inspections and roadworthy certificates across Melbourne’s outer north-west including Diggers Rest, Oaklands Junction, Clarkefield and Wildwood.

Why Do You Need a Roadworthy Certificate?

A certificate of road worthiness (or an RWC) is required by law to show that your vehicle meets the basic safety requirements to drive on Australian roads. An RWC is required to buy, sell or re-register a used car. You may also need an RWC to clear a police defect.

How Do You Get an RWC?

To get an RWC, your vehicle must be inspected in person by a qualified mechanic authorised as a VicRoads licensed vehicle tester. If your vehicle passes the inspection, you will be issued an RWC on the spot, which will be valid for 30 days. If it fails the inspection, we will outline the defects and what it will cost to fix them.

What Does the Roadworthy Inspection Include?

A roadworthy inspection covers all the essential vehicle components required for safe operation. These include:
  • Wheels and tyres
  • Steering, suspensions and braking systems
  • Seats and seatbelts
  • Lights and reflectors
  • Windscreen and windows (including wipers and washers)
  • Vehicle structure
  • Other safety items
The roadworthy inspection is not a test for mechanical condition or reliability, nor does it take into account the cosmetic condition of the motor vehicle.
